World Cup 2026 Prediction Pool Rules
1. Rounds
Picks are made in 9 rounds:
| A | First set of group matches |
| B | Second set of group matches |
| C | Third set of group matches |
| D | Round of 32 |
| E | Round of 16 |
| F | Quarter-finals |
| G | Semi-finals |
| H | 3rd/4th place game |
| I | Final |
Note: the deadline for Rounds H and I is the same (kickoff of the 3rd/4th place game) and you will have the same country and player picks for both — they are effectively one round, but the two games have very different points multipliers.
2. Deadlines
Make sure to enter your picks before the deadline for each round, which is the kickoff time of the first game in the round.
3. Picks
In each round you must:
- Predict the result (after 90 minutes) of each match — e.g. Germany 2–1 Australia. Even in knockout rounds when matches level after 90 minutes go to extra time or penalties, you are still predicting the score after 90 minutes (so a draw prediction can make sense).
- Pick two teams.
- Pick two players.
4. Transfers
- Changing teams or players from one round to the next uses up transfers.
- You are limited to a total of 10 transfers throughout the competition.
- You may not want to use all your transfers too quickly — otherwise you may find yourself stuck with a team or player that has been eliminated.
5. Scoring overview
Points are earned for three things:
- Correctly predicting match scores.
- Goals scored by your selected teams.
- Goals scored by your selected players.
6. Match prediction points
- 1 point for correctly predicting the winner (or a draw) of a match after 90 minutes.
- +1 bonus point for also correctly predicting each team's exact score after 90 minutes.
- Prediction points are multiplied by the round multiplier:
| Round | Multiplier | |
|---|---|---|
| A, B, C | Group stage | ×1 |
| D | Round of 32 | ×1 |
| E | Round of 16 | ×2 |
| F | Quarter-finals | ×4 |
| G | Semi-finals | ×8 |
| H | 3rd/4th place | ×1 |
| I | Final | ×16 |
Reminder: in the later knockout rounds, predict the result after regulation 90 minutes — not after extra time or penalties.
7. Team pick points
- 3 points for every goal scored by one of your selected teams in regulation (90 min).
- 6 points for every goal scored by one of your selected teams in extra time.
- 1 point for every penalty scored by one of your selected teams in a shootout.
8. Player pick points
- 5 points for every goal scored by one of your selected players in regulation (90 min).
- 10 points for every goal scored by one of your selected players in extra time.
- 1 point for every penalty scored by one of your selected players in a shootout.
9. Prizes
- Winner takes all.
- The winner may claim a 6-pack of beer of their choice from each other participant.
- Beer must be delivered to the winner in a timely manner by any legal means.
10. The referee's decision is final
It may be helpful to remember that:
- VAR will be deciding goal-kicks and corners.
- Covering your mouth with your hand while delivering racist abuse to an opponent: red card.
- Covering your mouth with your hand while having a chat with your mate from your club who plays for the other country: red card.
- The ball hits a defender's arm in their own box — a quick guide: English referee = no penalty; any other referee = penalty.
